The stores are not the only choice for you to find rulers. You can find a lot of printable iamges of rulers on the Internet. The advantage of the online rulers is that it can offer various lengths and measuring systems. It's convenient for you to print the ruler you need when you want to measure something but has no rulers in hand. So how to print a ruler?
Instructions:
1), Download an image of a ruler in PDF format from the PrintARuler or Vendian Systems websites. Choose a metric or imperial ruler.
2), Use Adobe Reader to open the PDF file. If you don't have an Adobe Reader, download it from the Internet.
3), Turn on your printer and check whether it has enough paper. If not, add some paper first. Use A4 or Letter size paper, which relies on the dimensions of the PDF file you downloaded.
4), Select the "File" menu and click "Print..." in Adobe Reader. Change "Page Scaling" to "None" in the "Page Handling" section of the "Print" dialog box. If you don't deactivate pitch scaling, your ruler may not print to scale.
5), Click the icon of "Properties" in the "Printer" section of the "Print" dialog box. Change the paper size to either A4 or Letter under "Paper Sizes," according to your needs, then click "OK."
6), Press "OK" in the "Print" dialog box to print the PDF file.
7), Use scissors to cut out the ruler. If it is as long as a yard stick, cut out each section and stick them together.
