So if you want to draw a pattern design with equal parts, you can try to use a ruler to delicatedly design elements in your design. You can draw triangles or squares in any size if you like. Also you can play with your children to draw pictures by using a ruler and help them draw straight lines, which is also very interesting. Here are some tips for you to follow when drawing patterns with a ruler.
Instructions
1), Put your piece of craft paper in a vertical line on your workspace.
2), Put your ruler across the top of the paper so that about an inch of the paper is showing on top.
3), Put your pencil against the ruler and draw a line from 1 to 3 inches, from 5 to 7 inches, and from 9 to 11 inches.
4), Move your ruler down the page about an inch and repeat the same process of drawing a line from 1 to 3 inches, from 5 to 7 inches, and from 9 to 11 inches.
5), Line the ruler up to these two set of lines by placing the ruler vertically between the lines. Draw a line on either side of each set of lines so that you can link the lines and form a square or rectangle pattern across your page.
After your first drawing, then you can have a look to find out the shortcomings which will help you improve your drawing in your next practice.
