Product Description of this Starrett Spring Tempered Steel Rule
Starrett Spring Tempered Steel Rules are made from fine quality steel and produced to the highest precision standards, making them the most accurate and readable precision steel rules available. Through over 125 years of experience, we have developed many versatile features, designs and styles.
It is a Starrett product so it makes sense that this is a very nice rule. Metric and standard on each side make it very useful and easy to use. Very smooth and clean edges. Numbers and lines are clean and easy to read. Seems durable so far.
Note: Starrett Spring Tempered Steel Rule is not flexible type of rule if that is what you are looking for.
This Starett rule is indistinguishable from the ones in my grandfathers tool chest. He was a professional machinist from about 1920 until 1960. Astonishingly, this Starrett Spring Tempered Steel Rule is made in EXACTLY the same style as the ones among my grandfathers tools! Even the same font is used for the numbers. The numbers are not simply painted on or scribed. They are actually molded into the face of the ruler. Each flat of the ruler has an inch scale on one side and a CM/MM division upon the other.
My only "complaint" with this product is that Starrett Spring Tempered Steel Rule is a professional tool, not a consumer-driven product. "Huh?" What I mean is, I picture the average buyer sitting in front of a computer looking at something on Ebay. The size is given in mm or cm, and the buyer sighs and reaches for his 6" converter rule. The average consumer would be looking for CM and MM, which for sure are present, but on the Inch edges, I'd expect a rule divided into inches, 1/2", 1/4" and then smaller, you know, like a regular ruler.
